    The New Orleans Public Library opened its first library in 1907 and has been serving the community ever since that time by offering a broad program of free educational, informational, and recreational activities. The library system is composed of the Main Library located in the Central Business District and 13 branch locations providing a network of materials, services and programs to New Orleans’s diverse neighborhoods.
